GTL Leadership Class to Study Local Arts & Culture Issues
New Upcoming Leaders Sought for Fall Leadership Class

(Tucson, AZ) They are dedicated to improving community by learning about local government, social service and health care issues in their quest to become better Tucson leaders. On Friday, March 23, 2007 members of the Greater Tucson Leadership (GTL) spring class will venture to the Tucson Museum of Art’s Auditorium (140 N. Main at Alameda, Education Building) at 1:00 p.m. to meet with the City of Tucson’s Marty McCune and discuss local arts and cultural issues related to the Rio Nuevo/Tucson Origins Park projects. The group will then walk to the new Presidio building site and tour the recreation of part of Tucson’s original Presidio.

“I think having a better understanding of what’s going on in Tucson is going to help me contribute my skills to the community and help my personal growth,” said Mary Kay Consultant Patricia Gonzales.

Gonzales wants to make changes to improve our community, and is one among more than 30 concerned citizens who are learning how to take the lead in doing so. GTL is seeking to fill its fall class with people who also want to help shape Southern Arizona’s future.

The next program begins August 3rd with an overnight retreat and concludes mid-December. Each session is a full day and focuses on a particular issue, such as criminal justice, the media, and economic development. Students will learn about the most important challenges faced by each sector and assist industry leaders in brainstorming solutions.

The GTL Leadership Program inspires, develops and promotes leadership in our community. GTL selects 35 people per program (spring and fall) to participate. Tuition is $1250 per person and scholarships are available. Applications are available now and may be downloaded from our web site at www.TucsonLeadership.org. The application fee ($25) is waived if received by May 1st. Those interested in applying should contact the GTL office at (520) 512-5GTL or email office@tucsonleadership.org.
