GREATER
TUCSON LEADERSHIP ADULT LEADERSHIP
CLASS OF 2005 TO GRADUATE ON MAY 25
TUCSON,
Ariz. (May 4, 2004) -- Greater Tucson
Leadership (GTL), a non-profit organization
devoted to building leaders in the
Tucson community, will honor the 24
graduates of its 2005 Adult Leadership
class on May 25 at a dinner to be
held at 6:00 PM at The Arizona Inn,
2200 East Elm Street. This
year’s graduating class will
share in the celebration of GTL’s
25th Anniversary and members of the
first graduating class of 1980 will
receive special recognition. In addition,
the winners of the GTL Tucson Leader
Award and the Ronald L. Kurth Award
will also be announced at the celebration.
The keynote speaker will be Beth Walkup,
a community leader and first lady
of the City of Tucson. She will talk
about her definition of leadership.
Graduates
of this year’s class participated
in a six-month long series of ten
education classes led by more than
50 of Tucson’s leaders. Speakers
in the classes have included: U.S.
Congressman Jim Kolbe, Mayor Bob Walkup,
Tucson Water Director Dave Modeer,
the Hon. Hector Campoy from Pima County
Juvenile Court, University of Arizona
Director of Economic Development,
Bruce Wright, Arizona Daily Star Managing
Editor Bobbie Jo Buel, Pima County
Administrator Chuck Huckleberry, and
University of Arizona President Peter
Likins.
The
mission of Greater Tucson Leadership
is to foster and support quality leadership
in the Tucson region through educational
programs and community events that
inform and motivate action. GTL offers
classes each year to select individuals
to enhance their knowledge of the
community and cultivate their leadership
skills. Many alumni have become influential
problem-solvers in our community.
